Activate AI and run a live test

Resolve the bot card’s current blockers, arm AI safely, and verify the production Telegram path with a separate fan account.

Overview

The AI switch is a guarded runtime action. Telestars checks product and billing readiness first, verifies an existing Secretary connection when one is already known, and can arm a standard bot while Telegram discovery is still pending.

  • Interpret every activation blocker on the bot card.
  • Enable AI only when the selected workflow is ready.
  • Understand the Pending state without treating it as a failed setup.
  • Validate both automated reply and operator visibility.

Before you start

  • A Telestars workspace and permission to configure at least one bot.
  • Access to the Telegram account and the official @BotFather bot used for setup.
  • A Telegram Business profile with the Chatbots settings available.
  • Use a second Telegram account that is not the connected business profile for the live test.
  • Make sure Business Flow is not intentionally controlling the same bot, because it locks AI activation.

Step by step

  1. Open My Bots, find the target bot, expand its card, and review every item under Finish setup or Needs attention.
  2. Follow the direct actions for creator information, scripts, sales-mode configuration, billing, or Secretary verification until the relevant blockers are cleared.
  3. Turn on the AI switch. If the standard bot shows Pending discovery, leave AI armed and continue to the inbound-message test.
  4. From a different Telegram account, send a new private message into the connected Telegram Business profile.
  5. Wait for the reply, then open Fan Inbox and confirm that the conversation, participant, and latest messages are visible.
  6. If delivery fails, disable AI while diagnosing permissions, connection validity, script/media readiness, or a runtime pause reason.

How it works

These are the product rules and states that matter for this workflow.

What to knowTelestars behavior
Product blockersBusiness Flow lock, invalid mode configuration, missing active scripts, creator completion, and Paid Media readiness can prevent activation.
Wallet gateFor non-ops workspaces, AI activation requires a previous top-up and at least $5 in the shared wallet, including on the Free plan.
Pending discoveryA standard bot can be armed before Telegram provides its business_connection_id; delivery begins after the connection event or first inbound business message reveals it.
Existing connectionWhen a Secretary connection is already known, Telestars verifies that it remains enabled and can reply before completing activation.
Managed profilesA managed profile must already be linked to its Secretary connection, while a main routing bot is not an AI conversation target.

Verify the result

  • The bot badge shows AI on, or Pending only until the first business message completes discovery.
  • The second Telegram account receives an appropriate reply without duplicate delivery.
  • Fan Inbox shows the same conversation and lets an authorized operator review it.

Troubleshooting

If you see thisWhat to check
AI switch is disabledExpand the bot card. Main routing bots cannot run AI, managed profiles need a linked connection, and all other current blockers expose a corrective action.
AI is on but the badge stays PendingSend a fresh message from another Telegram account. Telegram may not reveal the Secretary connection identifier until that event arrives.
AI was paused after a media sendUse the runtime pause details to open the exact Scripts or Gallery item, repair it, verify delivery readiness, then re-enable AI.

Best practice

Configure and validate one bot end to end before copying the setup to other bots. A real Telegram conversation is the final source of truth.
