Overview
Telegram Business controls what the linked chatbot may do. Reply permission is essential for conversation delivery, while the full onboarding set covers messages, profile capabilities, Gifts and Stars, and Stories when offered.
- Enable every permission shown in the Telestars setup guide.
- Preserve reply delivery after connection verification.
- Support paid media and profile actions where available.
- Know which missing permission causes an activation blocker.
Before you start
- Access to the official @BotFather bot and the Telegram account that owns the bot.
- A Telegram Business profile where the bot should handle private conversations.
- Permission to add and manage bots in the Telestars workspace.
Step by step
- Open the linked chatbot inside Telegram Business → Chatbots and open its permissions.
- Enable all five Manage Messages permissions, including the ability to read and send replies.
- Enable all four Manage Profile permissions shown by Telegram.
- Enable all five Manage Gifts and Stars permissions for the monetization path.
- Enable Stories if Telegram displays that permission for the account.
- Save the configuration, accept Telegram’s temporary warning if shown, then run Check permission from the Telestars bot card.
How it works
These are the product rules and states that matter for this workflow.
| What to know | Telestars behavior |
|---|---|
| Reply permission | If Telegram reports that the known connection cannot reply, Telestars marks it as missing permissions and blocks or warns on AI delivery. |
| Permission groups | The launch checklist expects Manage Messages 5/5, Manage Profile 4/4, and Manage Gifts and Stars 5/5. |
| Stories | Story actions require a discovered valid connection plus story permission; enable it when Telegram exposes the control. |
| Verification | The bot card can query an already-discovered connection and clear or report its invalid state. |
Verify the result
- All message, profile, and Gifts and Stars permission counters are complete.
- Stories is enabled when it is shown and needed.
- Check permission succeeds or the bot remains Pending only because discovery has not happened yet.
Troubleshooting
| If you see this | What to check |
|---|---|
| Needs permission appears on the bot card | Restore reply access in Telegram Business → Chatbots, save it, then click Check permission again. |
| Story Studio says permission is missing | Enable the Stories capability on the linked profile and verify the connection again. |
| Telegram shows a restriction warning | Enable the required permissions first, accept the warning, then return to Telestars and verify the profile. |
Best practice
Use one clearly named BotFather bot per intended profile, keep tokens private, and verify every connection with a real message from a second account.
